Episode 24: Past the Beast and onward to the Mountain

Written by: Epicstu Wyyvernwriter

Lime green fur ruffled as the Great Green Leopard, called Firha, sized up her opponent. The beast before her was unlike anything in all of Rainbow, it was beautiful. The base color of its hide was as a fog of pure and faded white. Streaks like the Angel’s lightning ran along its nose, over its eyes, along its back, and across its sides. Feathers like the Fox’s fire decorated the purple streaks. It stared right back at Firha with its teal eyes and roared. The beast’s mouth was gigantic, yet well proportioned to its body. It could bite her in half, she had to be careful. On her life, Firha would never allow harm to come to her Hensil.
The laboratory born and Heaven/Hell-reforged undead Tyrannosaurus-Rex, called Ilean, locked eyes with her opponent as they circled around each other, slowly. She would also have to be careful, she was told not to alter the earth so she had to keep her earthshaking to a minimum. She was told not to kill anyone or anything and keep it all convincing. She was given these orders by Edward just before he left Hell. She knew he was no longer their, that the Fox was not him and would not be until this was done. She wanted him back.
Ilean put a foot down, creating a tremor that distracted Firha as she pushed off the ground and leaped over to Firha. Firha dodged as Ilean landed with a roll where Firha had been. A flash of lime green fur and Firha had wrapped herself around Ilean. Ilean struggled but managed to grab Firha with her mouth by her body and throw her off. Firha looked to her Hensil.
Hensil nodded, “Let’s go,” she said.
“No,” Brett interrupted. “I cannot allow you to suffer the pain of lose. I…” he fell down. There was a tranquilizer dart in his back, it was green.
“Sorry,” said Hensil as Jain picked up Brett to carry him. “That is exactly why I cannot allow you to die.” She looked to her new friends, “Firha will be fine, we need to get to that mountain,” she pointed to a lightning storm over a mountain with a single flame atop its peak. The rest agreed and they made for Rainbow’s Border.
“Hold on,” Q said as he tested the engine of an abandoned Deathcar. The vehicle purred as it started up, “Everyone in!” The armored van fit the party easily and even came with some weaponry. “Blue!”
“Henry,” Henry insisted.
“Henry,” Q restarted as he threw the vehicle in gear and slammed down on the gas. “We will be crossing some canyons that do not have bridges. You think your telepathic powers can help with that?” Henry nodded. “Jain, I need you on the 50cal.” Q continued. “Hensil, cover Henry while he makes safe paths to protect us from falling to our deaths, please. Terial, is Brett still out?”
“Yeah,” Terial replied.
“Then leave him,” demanded Q. “He’s strapped down he will be fine. I need a navigator.” Terial moved to the front passenger seat. Q squinted through his driving goggles, “Henry, the death canyons are coming, you ready?”
Henry stood atop the van, Jain behind him on the 50cal. mounted machine gun facing back as she tried to see if the beast had followed them. Henry looked on ahead, he could see the canyons. He focused his mind and calmed his rapidly beating heart, he could see the bridge already. All he had to do was bring it into reality.
“Yeah!”Q shouted as a bridge of Blue telekinetic energy formed over the first gap. “Way to go Blue!”
“Henry!” Henry insisted.

Ilean watched as the Heroes of Rainbow drove off. Firha tackled her again but she caught her this time. Adjusting her grip without causing fatal harm to Firha, Ilean spun around slowly building momentum before throwing Firha towards the escaping Colors with great force.

“Yeah!”Q shouted as a bridge of Blue telekinetic energy formed over the first gap. “Way to go Henry!” Suddenly a blur of lime green fur fell in front of the van in the middle of the bridge.
“Firha!” Hensil shouted in concern. Brett remained asleep but became restless at the sound of Hensil’s distress.
Then the beast landed on the other side of Firha who was too weak to get back up. Henry struggled to hold his bridge in place with all the added weight. The beast placed its foot on Firha’s beaten body and roared at the Heroes of Rainbow.
Q slammed on the gas, “No!” Hensil shouted in concern for her Firha. The sudden jolt of the van going forward threw Henry off balance and the Bridge disappeared just before the Deathvan could plow through Firha body and they all began to fall to the canyon below. Brett opened his eyes and ripped off the straps that held him down. Firha caught a wall and immediately began following the falling van down with Hensil hanging on to the roof. Firha was fast but the ground was faster approaching, but just before the van hit the ground it stopped.
“Everybody out!” Brett shouted. The others made it out one side just before the beast landed on the other. Hensil watched as Brett held the van upon his shoulders, adjusted his stance, and threw the Deathvan at the beast with a mighty warcry. The beast caught the van in her mouth, chomping and crushing before swallowing it whole. “Damn!” Brett said as the beast belched up a tire.
“This way!” Henry shouted as he made a stairway up against the canyon wall. Ilean ran to the stairs but was tackled by Firha. Again and again, Ilean broke free and got closer to the escaping Heroes of Rainbow as Henry continuously altered his staircase to avoid her. Though battered bruised and weak, Firha tackled Ilean again and again just before she could reach the Heroes of Rainbow. “How far is the border?” Henry asked.
“It would have taken us five minutes going straight across the canyon at ninety miles per hour with my van and your bridges,” Q replied. “You can do the fucking math yourself.”
“If we continue going back to the top of the canyon at a forty-five-degree angle… five point three miles to top… Then just three point seven five miles to the border from there… If we average one mile every six minutes, as we are now, we should reach the top in thirty-one point eight minutes…” He hastened his way through the math. “Then it’s just twenty-two point five minutes to the border… Great. We got just under an hour of running left! We need to pick up the pace!”
Jain echoed a soothing whistle to the skies and a loud majestic caw echoed back. Jain ran ahead to the front by Henry, “We have a ride incoming, but the LZ is at the top of the Canyon.”
“Going up!” Henry said as he stopped forming his staircase and rose the party straight up towards the top. Ilean was hard on their heels, running up the cliff face next to them, and she was gaining fast. She leaped to the rising pillar of telekinetic Blue energy and dug her talons into it. “AH!” Henry shouted as a sharp pain entered his mind like it was being stabbed.
Ilean made it to the Heroes of Rainbow and chopped down but her mouth was held open by Brett as the two wrestled atop the rising pillar. “Hold on Henry, you can do it!” Brett shouted to his friend as he held the Beasts mouth open above them, “you have some nasty breath.”
Firha then came from under them and tackled Ilean one last time, bringing the beast with her. As she fell Hensil could see it in her eyes, this was goodbye. Hensil nodded to her oldest friend who was like a sister to her and fired an arrow from her bow. The Arrow struck the cliff face just above the falling Firha and Ilean as they remained locked in an epic struggle. The arrow exploded and the cliff face shattered and fell on Firha and Ilean. Hensil wept.
“Come on!” Brett gently picked up Hensil and carried her to Jain’s Great Golden Eagle, a large bird native to the Yellow.
“Come on!” Jain gestured for the party to climb aboard her massive flying feathered friend. Hensil just watched the debris clear, hopeful and waiting for her Firha to emerge. Her hope vanished when all signs of such a happy ending left her with not but sorrow and loss. Brett held her close to let her know he was there for her and she embraced him as she continued to weep for her fallen friend.

Hell looked up and saw a massive bird of golden feathers flying toward’s his mountain. There he lounged atop its peak, Heaven held firmly in his hand and stabbed blade first into the mountain’s top. There he waited for the Heroes of Rainbow to come and claim their hard-earned peace.
