Episode 17: Fate’s Plan

In deep space, far from the World he was protecting, Reaven looked down at Basilisk’s underbelly from the chunk of floating rock he stood upon. The hook at the end of his staff dropped. “Hey, Reaven!” shouted a voice. Reaven stopped the eternal chain his hook was linked to and waited for Basilisk to react. He did not. “He cannot see or hear me,” Aleister assured as he revealed himself. “Only you can.”
“Who are you supposed to be?” Reaven asked as he swung the heavy hook down hard against Basilisk sending him flying towards a large sun.
“A friend,” Aleister replied. “for now.” A distant star seemed to grow larger and larger. “There is a sun hurtling at you, just thought you should know that.”
Reaven just stood there with a raised eyebrow, “I know, but why are you here?”
“You are going to want to position that thing between those two moons there,” Aleister pointed, “you have seven minutes. I will be back to help after I take care of a challenge first,” then he left the Realm. Reaven could feel the heat from the approaching yellow sun, and he smiled, his hook was already wrapped around it. He swung the sun down, around, and over slamming it down hard against Basilisk’s head.

“So, you believe you have things all figured out?” the Devil asked the Nekolich.
“Figured what out?” the Nekolich replied.
“You sent Edward Dimir back to Hell to siege it and take my throne!” the Devil shouted angrily. “None of this was part of our deal
“The last thing I wanted was for Edward to return to Hell and I have never once thought of taking your throne,” the Nekolich replied.
“Then why does Edward Dimir want war with me?” the Devil questioned.
“I haven’t the slightest idea,” the Nekolich replied.
“Who would?” the Devil asked.

“Iron!” shouted a seven foot tall Northlandish Fennec with saber teeth as he prepared to headbutt Aleister.
“Hold your fire, Krunk,” Juliana shouted before headbutting Aleister herself. Aleister was unphased. “What do you want, hound?” she asked him.
“Edward needs your help,” Aleister replied, “but first,” in one fluid motion he unsheathed his axe and swung it down at Juliana. Juliana unsheathed her own blade and blocked, “we have a tradition to uphold.” Krunk, Roku, Buck, and Leon unsheathed their weapons and rushed into the fight.

Reaven spun his staff around in varying directions, swinging the heavy hook attached to a chain attached to his staff around with it. Each swing impacted Basilisk with tremendous force, but Basilisk kept coming. Reaven wrapped his staff’s hook’s chain around Basilisk and leaped forward to strike down the Living God when suddenly he was grabbed and pulled away by an invisible force. Then Basilisk disappeared, “My tail extends eternally,” he said as he swung Reaven through planets and suns. “No one sees me unless I want them to,” trapped, all Reaven could see, going on as far as he could see, to his left and to his right were rows of teeth that were bigger than the planets and suns he had just been smashed through. “I…”
“The Devourer of Death. Yeah, I know,” Reaven interrupted as Basilisk was finally positioned between the two moons that the skinny Fennec had pointed out.

In the Kingdom of Heaven, all was quiet except for Iron Ram Hall. Heaven’s home for the Iron Ram Knights, Iron Ram Hall was a beautiful hall decorated to resemble the history of House Iron Ram.
The entire Iron Ram Order was on Aleister’s back now, “You know, this was so much easier when everyone was asleep,” he recalled the last time he took on the Iron Ram Order. He had made his axe blade blunt so that he could not kill anyone. He grabbed them with his axe and moved them out of striking distance and dodged all attacks that came his way.
Juliana clashed with Aleister in epic combat, locking weapons with him. “Put your weapons down, Assassin, this is Heaven.”
“I’m Just trying to give Zesrial a headache or the skeleton is lizard food,” Aleister replied.
“What?” Juliana replied. Then Aleister slammed his axe down hard against the ground with all his strength. The skies above the kingdom of Heaven cracked with thunder and lightning.

Reaven could hear Zesrial scream as purple lighting so bright that all became white for a moment struck Basilisk and caused him to become fatigued.

“What are you doing!?” Juliana yelled at Aleister.
Then Aleister relaxed, and everyone lost the will to fight him, “My job,” he replied. “which is to ensure everything lines up so to speak. Speaking of which, Edward could use an army. Any volunteers?”
“Why should we trust you?” Krunk interrupted.
The entire Iron Ram Order stared Aleister down after Krunk asked the question, “Trust me. Don’t trust me. It matters not, but Edward is marching to siege the throne of Hell.”
“Alone?” Buck and Roku asked simultaneously.
“Yup,” Aleister replied.
“Sieging Hell?” the knights asked one another, “can it even be done?”
“My Brother’s mortal soul has been fused with the Hell Wyyvern’s soul,” Aleister replied. “All he needs is an army and victory is all but assured.”
“Edward Michael of House Dimir,” Juliana addressed the rest of the Order. “Iron Rams, has he not been there for us when we needed him? Was there ever a time when he wasn’t prepared to lay down his life for any one of us? No! If one of us needed him, no matter the reason, he was there. We were family to him,” she looked to Aleister and then to her knights, “Now he is in Hell, and so I will go to Hell. Who is with me!”

Dolan stayed back as Edward walked out to meet the Devil, “Hey Dolan,” said Aleister. “Your work here is done, and it is time to go home.”
“What of Edward? should I not stay and help?” Dolan questioned.
“Reinforcements are already on their way, Edward can handle thing from here,” Aleister replied. “I need you to look after young Katherine while I see to a challenge and then we can begin the quest as promised.”
Dolan looked to Edward who’s conversation with the Devil seemed to be heated. “Alright, take me home,” he finally said.
