Episode 27: Conflicts of War

“Who do you want to win?” Sarah asked Loki as they sat and watched the event unfold under the cheering awe of the crowd.

“Does it matter?” Loki replied. “The God’s only desire a purpose.”

“They are not just taking purpose away from the Knights,” Sarah argued. “They tear true love in half with every weapon they win and violate the Wyyvern weapons they wield. Birtha, the armor you where, she feels your every movement and every attack she deflects gives her pleasure. Surely you must understand the gravity of what has been done.”

“Azaguth Hildegard has given me his blessing and Birtha is happy as far as she tells me,” Loki replied. “Vladamir refuses to do the job tied to Alexandra who came to me during the first round on her own. All is good here.”

“What of Chastity who had been tricked and as a result embalmed by her new wielder, Anubis,” Sarah rebutted. “Surely not all is good there.”

“What would you have me do about it,” Loki inquired.

“There is nothing to do,” Sarah replied. “The tournament must move forward honorably, I simply wonder who’s side you are on. The Wyyvern Knights and their Wyyvern weapons or the Gods who have torn them apart and brought them sorrow.”

“I wish only your happiness, my fluff, and to be a good king for New Valhalla,” Loki caressed her large fennec ears as he gazed deep into her eyes. “I have ensured an end to Anubis’s schemes. By the end of this tournament all Wyyvern weapons shall have the Knight that they desire.”

The entire arena shook as upon the fallen staff, which was now the Bridge Lane, the ancient and restless Monkey King playfully fought the Undead eater of Wyyverns. With tremendous strength Sun Wu Kong shattered his staff against Ilean’s face, then another, and another making each staff stronger than the last until one did not shatter. Then he made it as long as Ilean, spun it around himself, and gestured for Ilean to, “bring it on,” with a smirk. Ilean shook the blow off and stomped the ground sending a a shock wave at Wu who leaped into the air and to bring his staff down upon Ilean. Dodging to the side Ilean grabbed Wu’s staff in her right foot and held it to the ground before going for a tail sweep.

“Barely matching each other blow for blow,” Mercedes announced, “Ilean, the Apex Wyyvern, and Sun Wu Kong, the Monkey King, almost look like they are having a good time.”

“They are Kung Fu fighting, yah!” Woodsmann sang. “An Undead T-Rex versus an Undead Monkey, yah!. This may seem stupidly frightening, yah! But its actually rather amusing. Yah! Ho ho ho ho! Yah!”

“Wu seems to have the upper hand” Mercedes continued, “as Ilean doesn’t seem to have ever encountered his fighting style and is clearly struggling to keep up.”

“Zesrial had used Kung Fu against Edward in their round to prepare him,” Woodsmann added, “for the the fact that the Devourer had mastered all forms of the ancient martial art in entirety long ago before the fall of the 700 Realms.”

“Both combatants here are tireless Undead,” Mercedes announced. “Although Ilean’s raw strength and abilities to increase or decrease her mass infinitely and change her center of gravity at will may give her an advantage in the long run.”

“Where is her Agent,” Woodsmann looked over the live map feed. “There she is. Putting the petal to the metal, Mad moves to the Eastern Lane as fast as her tank’s drive train can carry her.”

“And it looks as though she will arrive just in time too,” announced Mercedes. “After six failed attempts, Ares has finally sent Bellona back to the Falls freeing her from Snow’s control.”

Woodsmann’s jaw dropped, “At point blank range Bellona explodes before Ares in a splash of lightning and Ares just shrugs it off like nothing happened. His sights now set on the now lonely Snow.”

“Mad, better hurry” Mercedes commented. “Ares may attempt to remove Snow’s hood rather than send her to the Hearth.”

The dry winds of the desert softly spread the heat of the red orange and yellow suns shining down upon the Mad Wyyvern who stood atop the decimated Jackal horde that had followed Set. Meanwhile, Set slowly regenerated next to Bellona in the Falls. “What happened to you?”

A look of focused rage on her face Bellona scoffed before returning to her feet, “wait for me, Ares. I wish to remove that Succubus’s hood myself.”

“Didn’t you save them in round one?” asked Set. Bellona smiled in responce and Set could hear Tzu laughing maniacally through her grin as she moved back to the Eastern Lane’s Clashpoint.

“It appears Tzu now has his own agenda,” Hubris informed Set. “Sun cannot keep him in check while synchronized to another wielder and Wyyvern weapons will always seek to full fill their purpose.”

“His wants wicked war,” Set realized.

“An eternal war,” Hubris confirmed. “If we win this event, he will become a great threat to all as he uses Bellona as an instrument of destruction.”

“Ares wielding Sun could stop him,” Set argued.

“There war would never end and consume the entire Multiverse,” Hubris replied.

“So we have to lose?” Set sighed.

“No,” Hubris replied. “We simply need to ensure Sun and Tzu end up with the same wielder at the end of this event. If one War falls beyond the Breachpoint their Wyyvern weapon will return to the Meadhall and the other War can claim them once the event has ended.”

“What about one War who then ceases to exist?” Set inquired.

“Or we throw could the event and lose,” replied Hubris. “Maybe Aleister will be merciful to you for your help.”

“Some how I doubt that,” commented Set.

Running straight up at a ninety degree angle, Wu jumped from one rising staff to another as Ilean chased him to the very stars above. Grabbing the thirteenth staff by its highest end he swung it up over and down upon Ilean. Pinned to the ground, Ilean adjusted her stance grabbed hold of the staff with her mouth and swung it around the arena with Wu still hanging on. Running from one end down the length of the rotating staff, Wu created another staff in his right hand before leaping forward to reengage Ilean. As the other twelve staves he had made during their skyward chase fell to down upon each side Lane Tower and destroyed those that remained the audience chanted his name with excitement.

“All Towers are officially gone!” Mercedes announced. “In an epic display of raw skill Sun Wu Kong crushed them all, even his own Team’s, individually. Earning the audience’s praise.”

“Was that on purpose?” Woodsmann questioned.

“It’s impossible to tell if the Monkey King has a plan or is just making things up as he goes along,” Mercedes replied.

“Now each Team and their Army only have each other to worry about,” Woodsmann announced.”

With a crash, a large decorated staff reaching to the clouds above slammed down upon the Tower to Snow’s side knocking her out away from Ares’s attack as Bellona arrived at the Clashpoint, “Why can’t you just send me to the Hearth?” Snow questioned. “Do you have any idea the level of suffering I will go through if you remove my hood?”

“Bellona,” Ares spoke, “let us fight the Warpriests honorably instead of removing their hoods…”

Ares was interrupted by Tzu’s blade revving through his chest and sending him to the Falls, “now,” Tzu spoke from beneath Bellona’s fiendish grin as she moved menacingly toward Snow, “where were we.”

A loud bang and a one thousand millimeter round sent Bellona back to the Falls as a solid black tank drifted into East Lane. The top panel opened and Mad popped her head out, “did I save you? Oh, thank goodness. Thought I wasn’t gonna make it. Hi, I’m Mad. You must be Snow. Push the Lane?”

“All the Towers are gone,” Snow replied. “Not a lot left to push.”

“Then let’s get you and everyone else to that Breachpoint before the Gods get to ours,” Mad suggested. “Hop in, she’s a two seater.”
