Episode 34: 2

“Just six days after he had taken out the Wyyvern Knight of Outlaws,” Mercedes began, “Mixcoatl is confirmed dead. Mauled by a raptor.”

“Welcome back to New Valhalla! Is what Bernard meant to start with…,”  Woodsmann interrupted, “but what he says is true. After gaining seven points from the Knight, the God soon found himself stuck in the same situation the Knight had been in before the God had shown up. Lost in the long grass.”

“If only they had worked together,” Mercedes added.

Woodsmann nodded in approval when suddenly, “we have just receive word that Aleister has spoken for the second time since the event began seven days ago.”

“Yes,” Mercedes took over, “and the word he said was.” Woodsmann stared at him with anticipation as Mercedes paused for dramatic effect. “…Two.”

Woodsmann’s jaw dropped, “but the first word he said was one… Oh shit, he’s count… Wait, it took him seven days to get to two?”

“It would seem so,” Mercedes replied. “At his current pace he will get to three just as the nuke is set to drop.”

“So he’s just not going to do anything,” Woodsmann asked.

“Only time will tell,” Mercedes replied. “Only Time will tell.”

Mixcoatl sat alone in an empty booth in a corner of the Meadhall. “Six days?” said Dennis as he sat down in that same booth. “Color me impressed.”

After pondering for a moment, Mixcoatl finally asked, “do you know why I killed you so soon.”

“I do not believe that I care,” Dennis replied as he pulled the top off his whiskey bottle and spit it out onto the floor.

Mixcoatl smiled, “Belle, your weapon. She is too powerful to be taken by the wrong hands.”

“How noble of you,” Dennis replied. “Whiskey!” he ordered his drink and then he started to laugh.

“Asshole,” Mixcoatl replied.

Seven days earlier…

“Rata tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat,” the helicopter’s sound was defining as the red lights that lit the interior turned green and the Knight’s Team dropped to the battlefield below. Agent0 wasted no time before heading to the complex. Both trenches lead to a door way on either of the massive two story window-ridden structure. A bit of synthwave played over the highlighting of a mini-gun his Wyyvern had dropped in front of the doorway for him. Picking the massive gun up, “authorization, Pillowyspu, accepted.”

Enraged, Agent0 kicked open the door and unloaded upon the hordes of Zombies within shouting “AH!” until he had run out of bullets. Breathing heavily, he tossed the gun on the ground, fixed his jacket, and lit a fresh blunt. “I hate that name,” he said on the exhale.

As he picked up an 1 Garand his Wyyvern had dropped in front of the next doorway, “authorization, Pillowyspu, accepted.”

“Fuck you, Stu,” said Agent0.

“Four days lost in that complex and Agent0 still appears to be having fun,” Mercedes announced.

“Despite being Stu’s closest Living friend, Agent0 has loved killing the Undead since before they met,” said Woodsmann. “The perfect match if you ask me. A zombie cat who can die infinitely and a professional zombie killer.”

“His Wyyvern provides him with fresh weaponry for each situation including the minimum amount of ammunition required to survive whatever is around the next corner,” Mercedes explained.

“Brutally efficient, Agent0 has so far racked up four hundred nineteen points for his team,” Woodsmann added.

Having pinned the four hundred twentieth zombie to the wall with a tactical knife, Agent0 shoved a blunt in its mouth and lit it. Walking away he did not look back as he put the final round from his last weapon pick up in between its eyes. After dropping the gun as he lit himself a fresh one, he noticed the ground beneath him begin to crack. He held his breath for a few moments and when nothing happened he exhaled laughing. The ground broke beneath him and he fell to the metro below. Grunting as he got to his feet he suddenly heard the crying of a child, “what?”

“Daddy, help me!” his daughters voice echoed so he ran to it. He turned and saw her, “you promise me you would always keep me safe.”

Then she disappeared and Agent 0’s Wyyvern dropped a shield where she had been. Picking the shield up he wondered why he would need it until a constant stream of arrows began pelting it. Moving to the cover of a support beam, Agent0 dropped the shield for a tactical knife and a pistol with two extra magazines as a train flew past like a bullet. He blocked a double edged short sword coming from around the support beam and aimed his pistol, but the attacker moved his arm so the shots would miss. The two fought until separated by another train. “Clips go fast when you miss,” he dropped the gun and knife to pick up another shield and a grenade. As the train passed he blocked the incoming arrows with his shield and tossed the grenade. The explosion was louder than he had expected and his ears rang.

“Save me Daddy, please,” his daughters voice returned. “There’s still time.”

“We are on day nine now,” Woodsmann announced, “and Aphrodite has still not been able to find Amdeo Drai.”

“This seems to have made her mad as she rips through the zombies of the complex Amitosh and Revelations,” Mercedes added.

“Can she find him before the fortnight is up? Will it even matter?” Woodsmann questioned. “Only Time will tell.”

They had fought for five days lost in there own worst nightmares. The were breaking, so the metro went for the kill. Shaking his head, Agent0 tried to get a handle on himself. His daughter had been eaten by the Devourer of Life an entire multiverse ago, “you are gone!” He saw her standing before him. Diana stared back at him speechlessly. The metro had made him see his long lost daughter instead of her, but it had made her see him as something else as well. A ray of light shined through his hair which seemed to flow in some slow motion wind as he asked her “hey, how you doin?” Agent0 fell to his knees before his daughter, “I could not save you,” but Diana saw him get down on one knee and hold up a small box to her. She could not breathe.

On his knees in submission, Agent0 held out a hand and his daughter grabbed hold before saying to him, “there is still time, but they will not want you to.”

“Yes!” Agent0 awoke from his trance to Diana’s excited voice as she kissed him passionately and a bright light grew brighter and brighter heading towards them. The two ended up next to each other at the Meadhall’s bar, “that was all the metro, huh?”

“Yup,” Agent0 replied. He saw that she was more stressed than he so he offered her his freshly lit blunt. “Good fight.”

Diana took it and clanked her drink with his, “yeah.”

Killing enemy trench soldiers and raptors to rack up points for her team from the sniper tower, Artemis tried to get Aleister as well, but every arrow she sent at him became impeded somehow. The end of the thirteenth day was approaching fast and as the fourteenth came Aleister smiled, “three,” the nuke dropped and he opened his eyes.
