Episode 2: The New Regime

“All Units be advised there is a stolen armored transport heading east down Sixth Avenue,” the police scanner radioed to every squad car in the city as the law enforcement chased the vehicle.

“Almost to the rondevu point,” said the bandit in the driver’s seat.

“Home free! Woo! Hoo!” the bandit in the passenger seat shouted excitedly. Then Suddenly he hit his head on the dash, “why’d you stop?” then his airbag deployed.

“I think we hit something,” the driver pushed his airbag out of his face.

“We can still make it. Let’s grab what we can and break for it,” the passenger pushed his airbag down and burst open his door only to stop when he saw that was behind them.

Attached to the transport via anchors were two steel cables, one on each side, that ran to a metal rod anchored to the ground. Doing a handstand with just one finger at the top of the rod, “Going somewhere,” Nid shot two bolts from her crossbow that struck the vehicle and then exploded putting both bandits in snares. The bad guys caught, she dismounted from her position and closed her eyes to take in the cheers from her people. Then the cheering stopped and the crack of thunder forced her eyes open. Her city was how she remembered it before she left to help Edward. Muddy trails for roads and buildings made of wood encased within stone walls.

“Nid,” she turned to the sound of Zesrial’s voice, “the Multiverse needs your help.”

“Where is Edward?” Nid questioned.

“He does not know I am here,” Zesrial replied. “However it will not belong before he wonders. Listen, you cannot trust anyone out there. I’ve given you your memory, but you are the only one. I have waited a long time for this moment and we only have one shot at this, so break her out and keep her alive. She will know what to do.”

“Wait, what’s going on?” Nid suddenly found herself free falling toward a highly secure facility on a World she did not know. She put her goggles over her face and allowed her Heads Up Display to scan the area she dropped towards. “That is a lot of security. Definitely not going through the front door.”

“You have no idea what you have just done,” Aleister stepped out from the darkness which spread infinitely in all directions around them. “Do you?”

“I saved my daughter’s life,” Agent 0 replied.

“You have saved noone!” Aleister snapped. Then he sighed, taking a moment to calm down, “you do not smoke,” he said and Agent 0 checked his pockets. There was no small metal box of joints. “You were never given a Wyyvern and you were not their when the Multiverse need you because you died of old age before MTMGA Inc. was founded. You were never the first Wyyvern Agent, so there has never been a Wyyvern Agent. Because of your selfish act I bow to Drak Mountainhiem. We all do. Epic, the Nekolich, even my brother. WE LOST!” Aleister took a moment to hold his anger. Enjoy your life.”

“CLEAR!” a jolt of electricity kick started his heart and he awoke in a hospital with his daughter by his side.

“Oh, Papa! I’m so happy you’re okay,” his daughter hugged him tight.

“What happened? how long have I been out?” he could not remember anything past getting struck with the butt of a gun.

“Three days,” his daughter replied. “The notorious assassin, Leon Aventis, tried to kill me, but you saved me just in time.”

“You did the world a huge favor, killing that assassin,” the doctor chimed in. “Just a few more tests and you can go home.”

“Can we get ice cream?” his daughter begged, “please! please! Please!”

“Alright,” he replied.

“Does he know?” Drak asked one of his Agents.

“He is none the wiser, my Lord. We have made the Multiverse great again,” the Agent replied.

“Good, let us check on our prisoner then,” Drak put a paw-like hand over the scanner in front of him and the triple sealed door opened. Revealing, “it’s empty? Where is she!” The prisoner was gone and webbing made of metal were everywhere.

“She has escaped and appears to have had help,” the Agent replied.

“No! Fucking! Duh! You imbecile!” In his anger Drak crushed the skulls of the guards who had been standing watch as they screamed that the doors were never opened from their end. “Don’t just stand there! Find her! Kill her if you must. She cannot get to him” he ordered the Agent.
